Mum update
A note on the flight costs! We live in outback Australia and to get where my Mum is in hospital isnt a direct flight! It is cheaper to fly overseas than it is to fly in and around Australia!
She has a fracture tibial plateau
Which we are now waiting to hear if she will need an operation to fix it in place! This fracture is bad with a long recovery time and you cant bend the knee or weight bare for 3-4 months!??!
Mum is really down! I wish there was away I could take the kids down to visit but she is too far away (14 hour car drive and no flights under $3000)
If anyone out there has any ideas on how I could cheer her up I would LOVE to know!!!
I want to do something more than just flowers

Send her a DVD video of all of you wishing her well. Or send her a fruit basket. Hope she feels better soon.
I like the DVD idea. You could send her one every week/fortnight, so she has something to look forward to in her long 3-4 month recovery.
Even something as simple as getting the kids to draw a picture and post every week. Its cheap, and always a winner!
Or you could arrange a mobile hairdresser to go to her house, and give her a shampoo and set or something. Its a bit more luxurious, and everyone loves a good head massage, don't they?!

$3,000 what on earth! Sorry to read about your Mum, I do hope she is better soon. I like Christine's idea.

Hope your mum is feeling 'somewhat' better now... yep, that is a pain that it costs so much to fly - especially if you are in the Outback and it is harder to get here and there....
