Extented Family...

This is something that I knew could/would happen but really wasnt ready for..

With extended family

I had to take Button to get shoes (she had none)

And ran in to "extended family" that all knew Button and Lil Boo!! And then came the comments why they arent with a indigenous carer etc!

I didnt say anything jsut smiled and tried to finish what I was doing.....

I knew this would come up but I felt very worried..... I have heard some bad stories of family memebers running off with the kids too been spat at!!!

How do you handle these issues?

Sorry it has been a while in visiting but I was thinking of you the other day... glad to hear you have some 'charges'... as for the 'extended family' - don't they seem to understand that all is being done in the best interest of the kids... regardless of race etc... I am glad that all is going well... take care

hopefully you wont have a run in again.. you would think they wouldnt put them in a foster care so close to their actual family

Geez! I hadn't even thought of that. You handled it so well! I'm sure I would mouthed off something to the tone of "maybe if the family were caring for the kids, they wouldn't be with me"... probably a good idea we're not fostering!!! You are doing an awesome job Chelley. The kids ARE in the best care.

Exactly the way you handled it. Gracefully. You are the only one who has "ASKED" to be a part of this difficult situation. While I am certain that it was shocking at first, I am positive that those family members left with a feeling of peace knowing that the girls were being cared for in a more stable environment. If you ever run into any type of trouble , I would treat them like you would if they were anyone else on the street, especially if they are acting out in front of the children. You can do this because you are in the right "Mode". They are yours as long as you have them.
You will know what to do. I am inspired by you.

Wow,
The children have family in the area, yet no one stepped forward to care for them. How sad is that? I think you handled the situation perfectly.

♡ That would be scary to deal with!

If anything, you would hope that they walked away thinking, "what could I DO that would let me be capable of helping my own family". My husband and I have been contemplating fostering as well, but do not know if it is the right timing for our daughter. I am envious of you for making this decision, as my husband and I know it is not for everybody. Good Luck!! :)
