Tiarna, Tiarna, Tiarna...
Oh my goodness Tiarna will send me batty!!
Tonight we get home and I put dinner on the table she is the first one to get her plate. Does she start to eat? (NOPE) I hand out the next plate (has she started? NOPE) Give out the last plate maybe now she has? (nope)
I sit down to eat, ask nicely to start eating. (Looks at me like I have asked her to stand on her head.) Hey maybe I should have asked her to do that?
10mins later guess who has only has ONE bite of her dinner?!?!
Kagen and Arliah are all most half way done. I ask Tiarna to eat please (this time with a little more grunt) She decideds to fold her arms in front of me and pout....
Ask again well more like demand her to get a move on....
and again she looks at me well I would say she looked right through me!
The other two have finshed and are heading to the bathroom for showers...
Tiarna at this point has eaten at the VERY most maybe 4 little forkfulls of food.
I get up from the table to help get showers ready and start clearing the table... And start to unpack school bags and lunch box's.
Lo and behold this is a sandwich in Tiarna's bag only half eaten!?!? Come on! She has to be hungry for dinner???? I question as to why she didnt eat her lunch. Tiarna tell's me that she didnt have time...
Oh and now we may have eaten 1/3 of her dinner.....
I am pretty steamed by now and sick of asking to eat... I try to explain that you need to eat to have the engry to do things and that if you dont eat you will get very sick...
Tiarna asks me how many more do I need to eat? I tell her if she eats 10 more forks then I will be happy!
It was like a light turned on! She is plowing down the forks counting them down in 5 mins flat????? What??
I guess I should be happy that she ate but I am just worn out...

The first words out of my kids mouths are MORE. I think I would fall over flat if one of them didn't want to eat.
That was my daughter during school last year. Never eating her lunch because she "didn't have time" and then fussing about dinner. She finally got past it once we stopped coaxing her to eat - and followed dinner by a dessert which she was not able to share in because she told us she was not hungry at dinner time.
It is definitely a phase that can drive a parent crazy!
I soooo hear ya! And my kids must be on the same page as Tiarna, because Harry does exactly the same thing!!!
Maybe you should spoon out her dinner, work out how many forkfulls it'll take to finish, and just tell her that at the begining?!!!
I have this same problem. My mom says to not worry about it because he won't starve, but I can't stand to see him sit there and pick at his food. Plus, when he doesn't eat dinner he wants to gorge himself later. Sometimes it's the little things that are the most difficult.
oh my gosh, i know what you mean. daughter #2 is probably taking years off my life with her non-eating self. I hate making dinner most nights because I can't satisfy everyone!!!
